Allison, Slutsky & Kennedy, P.C. concentrates, first and foremost, in the representation of unions and their members. Each of the firm's attorneys entered the practice of law based on a commitment to the labor movement and the betterment of conditions for working people. The firm has a wide-ranging labor law practice, including collective bargaining and general advice on contract interpretation and administration; grievance and interest arbitrations; representation and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and similar state agencies; proceedings before other federal and state agencies (such as the EEOC, U.S. Department of Transportation, OSHA, the U.S. Department of Labor, and similar state agencies); litigation at the trial and appellate level on behalf of unions and their members in the state and federal courts; assistance with matters of internal union affairs; advice to unions in connection with the negotiation and administration of collectively-bargained employee benefit plans, and litigation relating to such plans; the representation of unions and employees in matters arising from mergers, acquisitions, asset sales and other business transactions; and the representation of unions and their members in bankruptcy proceedings and proceedings to collect unpaid wages and benefits. In all of these matters, the firm strives, not only to prevail in the immediate proceeding, but to serve the larger institutional goals of the union and the trade union movement.

The firm's current labor law clients include the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (formerly the Graphic Communications International Union) and many of its local affiliates, including the three largest affiliates in metropolitan Chicago; the largest Chicago hospitality affiliate of UNITE-HERE, the Illinois Education Association, NEA, the Illinois affiliate of the nation's largest teachers union; the Allied Pilots Association, the union representing the pilot employees of American Airlines; the ALPA Merger Representatives of the pre-merger Northwest pilots in connection with the Northwest-Republic merger; the Professional Airline Flight Controllers Association - UAL, which represents the flight dispatch employees of United Airlines; the Service Employees International Union,; and two of the largest Chicago local affiliates of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
